At six years old, seated high in the nosebleeds at Lyric Opera of Chicago and hearing Kathleen Battle sing, she knew exactly what she wanted her life to sound like. Soprano Janai Brugger traces her musical journey from a Chicago suburb to international stages in an evening of songs from her own story, including a heartfelt tribute to composer Florence Price.
