CINCINNATI OPERA PRESENTS OPERA RAP: 2012 SEASON PREVIEW WITH EVANS MIRAGEAS OCTOBER 25 AT MUSIC HALL

Opera Raps Series begins with a preview of the four operas featured during the company’s 92nd Summer Festival.

CINCINNATI—Every year, Cincinnati Opera presents a diverse series of informative and entertaining Opera Raps lectures in the months leading up to its summer performance season. These community programs are created to enlighten and engage opera devotees and newcomers alike, and feature an array of guest speakers leading conversations on topics related to Cincinnati Opera’s 2012 Summer Festival (June 14-July 29, 2012).

Evans Mirageas, The Harry T. Wilks Artistic Director of Cincinnati Opera, will present a sneak preview of the 2012 Summer Festival on Tuesday, October 25 at Music Hall. He will be joined by young artists from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, who will perform musical excerpts.

Cincinnati Opera’s 2012 Summer Festival will open with a double bill of Italian one-act operas, pairing Leoncavallo’s tragedy Pagliacci with the comedic charm of Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. Next, Cincinnati Opera will proudly present its first-ever production of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess. The season will close with a lavish production of Verdi’s heartbreaking romance La Traviata.
