CINCINNATI OPERA ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR 2012 SEASON YOUNG ARTIST AND EDUCATION TOURING PROGRAMS
CINCINNATI—Cincinnati Opera will hold combined auditions for its 2012 Young Artist and Education Touring Programs positions in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 26, 28, 29, and 30.
A limited number of audition times will also be available in Lexington, Kentucky on Thursday, October 27. Scheduling preference for the Lexington auditions will be given to singers available for Cincinnati Opera’s production of Porgy and Bess.
2012 Young Artists
Young Artist positions are specifically for young up-and-coming singers who wish to gain professional experience and exposure in the opera industry. Young Artists will be engaged as Choristers in Cincinnati Opera’s 2012 Summer Festival productions. In addition to their chorus duties, Young Artists will perform at various donor and patron events and programs during the season, and may also be engaged to cover principal roles in rehearsals or perform comprimario roles in mainstage performances. Young Artists have the opportunity to work with distinguished professionals in the field as well experienced staff members to build and enhance repertoire through private coachings.
Rehearsals for the 2012 Summer Festival Season will begin in mid-May (exact start dates TBD) and run through late July. Cincinnati Opera’s 2012 season runs June 14 through July 29, featuring a double bill of Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci and Puccini’s Gianni Schicci, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, and Verdi’s La Traviata. 2012 Education Touring Programs
Singers will be engaged on a “per tour” basis and will perform a variety of community programs designed to inspire opera lovers of all ages and experience levels. The 2012 Education Touring Programs will be “Opera Redux: Porgy and Bess” in winter 2012 and “Little Red Riding Hood” in spring 2012. Audition Process
Auditions are by invitation through an application process. All singers should prepare four (4) arias in the original languages. An accompanist will be provided. Applicants who receive an audition are also eligible for positions in the 2012 Summer Festival Chorus.

Completed applications must be submitted electronically no later than 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2011. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Not all applicants will receive an audition.
