Opera Raps Series begins with a preview of the four operas featured during the company’s 91st Summer Festival.

CINCINNATI—Every year, Cincinnati Opera presents a diverse series of informative and entertaining Opera Raps lectures in the months leading up to its summer performance season. These community programs are created to enlighten and engage opera devotees and newcomers alike, and feature an array of guest speakers leading conversations on topics related to Cincinnati Opera’s 2011 Summer Festival (June 16-July 31, 2011).

Cincinnati Opera kicks off its Opera Raps Series with a preview of the 2011 Summer Festival on Wednesday, February 16 at Music Hall. This summer, Cincinnati Opera will present four thrilling operas: Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto, John Adams’s A Flowering Tree, P.I. Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, and W.A. Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Evans Mirageas, The Harry T. Wilks Artistic Director of Cincinnati Opera, will offer insights on each of the season’s operas, illuminating not only the history and music of each piece, but also providing a unique insider’s look at crafting an opera season.
