THE PRODUCTION To close the season, Cincinnati Opera presents the U.S. premiere of English National Opera’s brand-new production of La Bohème. Set in 1930s Paris, the production was a smash hit when it opened in London in January 2009.

THE CAST As Rodolfo and Mimi, we welcome a pair of rising young stars who are also newlyweds: dashing tenor Stephen Costello and soprano Ailyn Pérez, both making their Cincinnati Opera debuts. Returning after her success as Madame Mao in Nixon in China (2007) is soprano Georgia Jarman, who will take on the role of Musetta. Marco Caria, who brought down the house as Rodrigo in last season’s Don Carlo, will sing the role of Marcello. Metropolitan Opera regular and Cincinnati resident Thomas Hammons appears in the comic role of Benoit. John Keenan will conduct.
